Build the Skills to Respond to Medical Emergencies at Sea
The Medical First Aid course provides seafarers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to give immediate assistance when an accident or illness occurs onboard. It prepares participants to assess casualties, deliver appropriate first aid and seek professional medical advice when required.
The programme is structured with reference to STCW Regulation VI/4 and Section A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code.
What Is the Medical First Aid Course?
Medical First Aid is an intermediate maritime medical-training programme for personnel expected to provide immediate care during a shipboard medical emergency.
Because professional medical assistance may not be immediately available at sea, trained crew members must know how to preserve life, prevent a condition from worsening and promote recovery until further help is received.
