The Rating Forming Part of an Engine-Room Watch course prepares engine ratings to assist engineering officers in maintaining a safe watch in a manned engine room or carrying out duties in a periodically unmanned engine room.
The course develops essential knowledge of marine machinery, engine-room communication, watchkeeping routines and safe working practices. It is structured with reference to STCW Regulation III/4 and Section A-III/4 of the STCW Code.
What Is the RFPEW Course?
A Rating Forming Part of an Engine-Room Watch, commonly known as RFPEW, supports marine engineers during routine machinery operations. Ratings must follow instructions accurately, monitor equipment and report abnormal conditions promptly.
