Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties is intended for crew members who have been assigned specific responsibilities under the vessel’s Ship Security Plan.

The programme provides the knowledge and practical understanding required to perform security patrols, control access, monitor restricted areas, identify threats and respond to security incidents. It is structured with reference to STCW Regulation VI/6 and Section A-VI/6-2 of the STCW Code.

What Is Designated Security Duties Training?

Some crew members are assigned responsibilities beyond general security awareness. These may include conducting searches, controlling access points, monitoring deck areas, protecting cargo and supporting the Ship Security Officer.

This course prepares those personnel to carry out their assigned duties confidently and in coordination with the vessel’s security organisation.
